Louisiana Vacation Ideas

Louisiana state flagCamping in Louisiana's wide variety of climates is as fun as it is interesting.

The local culture and attractions are another reason to head over to Louisiana.

Endless bird watching and nature photography is to be done here.

Louisiana's 20 State Parks are also outstanding places for hiking, championship fishing, kayaking, biking and nature trails. Most State Parks feature a waterfront location, campsites and picnic areas for friends and family to enjoy themselves.

Culture
Louisana has been inhabited by over 2 dozen Native American tribes including being the the home site of the Chitimacha Indian.

Since then the area has been dominated by French, Acadian farmers and trappers, Spanish and Canary Islanders as well as many other cultures that have collided in Louisiana contributing to its cultural diversity.

Caney Creek Lake State Park
Home to some of the largest bass in the state its lush, pine-studded woods and beautiful rolling hills are great places to explore.

Flourishing bass and trout fill the lakes and rivers. The infamous Bonnie and Clyde Ambush Site is also near by in Arcadia.

At night Louisiana is a great opportunity to teach yourself and the children about the planets and the night sky. One of my favorite things to do is look for constellations and for just a few dollars you can pick up a star finder. It's not hard to do and it is a lifetime of knowledge and fun for everyone.

Bayou Segnette State Park
There is a whole host of recreational opportunities at Bayou Segnette State Park. It offers the best of camping and it is just a thirty-minute drive across the Mississippi River from New Orleans.

This unique ecosystem offers you the chance to spot plants, trees and abundant wildlife from both swamps and marshland.

The surroudings will command your attention while you are taking a break from boating, fishing, canoeing, picnicking, playgrounds or swimming in Bayou Segnette's popular wave pool.

Because of the park's unique location, both salt and freshwater fishing are available. From the boat launch, you may explore many areas not readily accessible by overland routes. Catches of bass, catfish, bream, perch, redfish and trout are common in the area.

Lake Fausse Pointe State Park
South Louisiana is the edge of a water wilderness and a perfect point to experience the natural and cultural heritage of the state.

Fishing, boating and canoeing opportunities are abound. A labyrinth of waterways that winds through the Basin are great for fishing as well as site seeing.

A visitor center complex features a boat dock with rentals, and a nature center provides fun programs and activities as a way to learn about the surrounding environment.

Grand Isle
Grand Isle is a beach ridge created by the action of the waves of the Gulf and serves as a breakwater between the Gulf of Mexico and the network of inland channels that connect to the bayou tributaries of the Mississippi River.

Grand Isle State Park is the most popular barrier island off the coast of Louisiana partly for its beauty and the fact that it is a launching point for excellent deep-sea salt-water fishing adventures.

Over 280 species of fish are known to make their home in the waters off the coast of Grand Isle.

Surf fishers can catch speckled trout year round, especially in the spring and summer and in the fall and winter Redfish venture into their range as well.

Grand Isle State Park offers an excellent location for swimming in the warm Gulf waters most of the year.

Grand Isle is a great place to watch the Brown Pelicans feed by diving into the water as Seagulls lazily float on the wind and Crabs crawl the shores.

Birding enthusiasts will enjoy the enchantment and beauty of the lagoons and the Gulf shore. This exceptional environment attracts numerous species of birds and other wildlife.

So take a trip to Louisiana and enjoy fishing, birding, swimming, crabbing, boating, and a divers cultural experience.
