CAMPFIRE MEALS: HOT DOGS AND HAMBURGERS

Campfire meals are a great way to get the children involved in the dinner process. It also works for anyone on a high adventure/lightweight adventure.

Ingredients

Cooking Instructions
Gather a green stick about 3 to 4 feet long fro each person eating.  Any shorter and it will burn the cook. Make sure it is a green stick because a dry stick (brown) it will catch on fire.

Adults should prepare each stick by stripping the bark from the last 6 inches of the twig.

Hot Dogs
Shove (carfully) a hot dog firmly onto the roaster.  If there is a fork in the twig you can make two at a time!

Hamburgers
For those who prefer burgers a forked stick is a necessary.

Start with 1.5 - 2 feet of aluminum foil.

Fold the foil lengthwise

Set the forked stick on the foil

Place the burger patty inbetween the forks of the twig (so there is a fork of twig on either side of the burger).

Then wrap the foil around the burger and the twig.

Pinch around the ends to keep your dinner in the foil.

Simply hold the stick near the flame, turning the handle carfully to flip the burger.

With a campfire and a green roasting stick everyone can have a fun time making dinner and have an easy cleanup!
