In the northern mountains region there is the U.S. Space and Rocket Center, which is a great opportunity to teach yourself and the children about the planets and the night sky. It's not hard to do and it is a lifetime of knowledge and fun for everyone.
Also museums, antebellum mansions, historic forts and the new Civil War Trail will be great scenery that will educate you as well.
From fishing and baseball to golf and cave exploring Alabama is a great place to explore.

Jones Bluff near Selma, Pike County Lake in Troy, Lake Martin near Alexander City, and beautiful Lake Eufaula offer great adventures. Many of these sites are also perfect for canoeing and kayaking.
If freshwater fishing is not to your liking go deep-sea fishing or sailing in the Gulf of Mexico. Thirty-two miles of breathtaking Alabama waters are enough to make you forget your day job and become a beach bum.
Enjoy!
